Honored to Serve: Robert Hill Named Board Chair of UrbanPromise

Camden, NJ — UrbanPromise has elected Robert Hill, President and Founder of Retail Sites, LLC, as the new Chair of its Board of Directors. For Robert — who has served on the UrbanPromise board for more than a decade, including as Vice Chairman and chair of its Finance Committee — the role is a continuation of a long-held commitment to the children and families of Camden.
Founded in 1988 by Dr. Bruce Main, UrbanPromise is a Christian nonprofit that equips Camden’s children and young adults with the skills they need for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth, and leadership. Its work spans after-school programs, summer camps, youth employment, experiential learning through UrbanTrekkers and BoatWorks, and two schools serving students from kindergarten through high school. Each year, the organization reaches roughly 600 local youth.
“I am inspired by working alongside of people who have a passion for helping others,” Robert said — a reflection of the spirit he hopes to carry into the work ahead.
Robert is quick to point out that the board’s strength comes from the many people who give their time to it. He and the entire UrbanPromise community extend their gratitude to outgoing Chair Michael Byrne, whose steady leadership helped guide the organization through the COVID years and afterwards. The progress UrbanPromise has made is a credit to his vision and to the other dedicated board members who are dedicated to Camden’s young people.
